Couch White has expertise in advising not-for-profit entities on all aspects of employment law and disputes, including relationships with independent contractors, as well as conducting corporate investigations of employment matters, financial irregularities, conflicts of interest and fraud and other criminal activities including those that lead to removal of directors, officers and employees. We also assist with the filing and disposition of directors’ and officers’ (D&O) insurance claims.

  • Handling employment claims reported to the New York State Division of Human Rights and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) from initial complaint through litigation, final dismissal, settlement or administrative, arbitration or court disposition.
  • Whistleblower complaints under the New York Not-For-Profit Corporation Law or policy, including investigation, and the drafting of whistleblower policies.
  • Review of the need for, and design of corporate investigations, including criminal, employment and internal controls, from inception to execution.   • Navigation of employment termination, permitted employee leave, labor and employment regulations (state, local and federal) and required policies for not-for-profits including conflict of interest and whistleblower.
